Two Channel RS-232 to RS-422 Converter allows your computer to communicate up to 4000 feet by converting the RS-232 signal to RS-422. If the peripheral to be connected will operate on the RS-422 signal, only one converter is required. If both the Data Transmitting Equipment and Data Receiving Equipment use only RS-232, then two converters should be used, one at each end of the line. This model supports TD and RD signals and is powered by the RS-232 port handshake lines DTR and RTS. At least one of these handshake lines must be asserted (high) to power the unit. The RS-422 driver is enabled/disabled with RTS. The RS-422 receiver is always enabled. If DTR is always asserted and the RTS is used to control the driver, this unit can also be used as an RS-232 to RS-485 4-wire converter. Both the RS-232 side and the RS-422 side have DB9 female connectors. The pin-outs of this unit match a SMPTE (video standard) compatible controlling device. CE approved.
